Personalized Art Pet Memorials

We all buy souvenirs to remember and cherish special places and events. Having a memorial specifically made for you pet will similarly conjure up special moments you shared together.

We do consultations about the design for a Art Pet Memorial by phone and email. If you are near Chicago you are welcome to set up an appointment and visit the studio. Discussions about your pet's behavior, traits, eating habits and playing routines give us valuable information in designing your memorial. An appropriate container is chosen or made along with a collection of various objects and memorabilia connected to your pet. The creative process begins by assembling the memorial container by employing various techniques which may include painting, sculpted objects and collage. We will send you sketches or photos for your final approval of the design. The pet's remains, photos, or a favorite toy add a personal touch to your memorial. Each memorial is a one-of-a-kind objet d'art. Read the following stories about memorials already created to help you decide how you can memorialize your beloved pet.

Art Pet Memorial for a cat named Kanker

Kanker had peculiar ways, she would hide in tiny spaces and was thrilled when found and scooped up, setting her to meowing and licking her owner’s nose. And how she loved to play with house keys! Every time she heard keys she would seek them out and carry them in her mouth and hide them often causing havoc in the household. She also had a stuffed cow doll that she loved to rough up.

Kanker was such a distinctive character, full of special idiosyncrasies. Just like your cat. One of a kind. Lovingly remembered in this art pet memorial.

Just consider how it contains many objects relating to her life, favorite things represented by photos and toys such as the cow, the fish and of course the keys. The glass urn contains the remains with her collar and tags draped around its neck. The wooden hand-carved and painted altar contains her eye tooth. On the lace-trimmed altar and on the sides are ex-votos of birds and animals and the patron saint of them: Saint Francis. Surrounding the altar are pictures and other images reflecting endearing recollections of Kanker.

Art Pet Memorial for a dog named Max

Max didn’t take chances. He would grab a piece of turkey offering and put his paws on either end of the morsel as a precaution against robbery. Then he would nibble away happily. It was his favorite food, so a turkey bone was appropriately attached to the top of the box. “He hid turkey bones everywhere,” said his owner. “Everywhere!” Maybe you have similar stories which can be translated into a personalized memorial.

Max a West Highland Terrier knew how to get attention by rubbing his nose against people and shake his head back and forth. The essence of his character was attitude. An attitude people found irresistible.

Lilies-of-the-Valley is a flower of remembrance and was placed next to his remains. Max will certainly be remembered with this memorial honoring his special preferences, peculiar behavior traits and irresistible persona. Having a memorial for your pet will keep your memories alive. You’ll be so glad to have one.

Art Pet Memorial for a cat named Grey Zone

Grey Zone’s intense green eyes glowed in darkness like the lights on Broadway. She always wore an innocent expression even when she filched something from the kitchen counter. She was like a wise hermit who knew everything, only she wouldn’t tell you anything. To her the aroma of tuna was intoxicating and she could vacuum up a bowl of it faster than a centipede darting across a floor.

This memorial was made for a grey and white rescued alley cat. However humble her life began it was thoroughly lavished with in a home. Commissioned by a man whose life style is minimalist thus the design is simple and elegant. In the frame with Grey Zone’s picture is a plastic ant as she was fascinated with observing insects. The mid-section contains silver ex-votos from Italy of animals, birds and insects as well as Saint Francis, the patron saint of animals and birds.

The two crab claws were added for humor because she liked sitting on laps and occasionally without provocation would snarl and jump down. Her master amused by this gesture would say “Oh she’s crabby again.”

You probably have a collection of photos, toys and other mementos that could be assembled into a poignant “portrait memorial” of your pet through his or her possessions. The memorial can instantly bring to mind wonderful shared moments.

Grey Zone was buried but her soft grey hair from her hair brush is in the container on the faux marbleized base.

Art Pet Memorial for a canary named Emil

Emil liked to sing duets with his owners. He knew only two songs, one being Tony Bennett’s rendition of “What a Wonderful World”. Neighbors often remarked it was a pleasure to hear him singing. Often as he flew through the house he mischievously would play pranks by chewing paper and leaving a long and winding trail. His feathers were a lovely sunflower yellow. How would you like to have your bird remembered in a Pet Memorial?

The owner requested a simple bird-cage-like memorial to have as a lasting symbol of a dear friend.

Art Pet Memorial for a dog named Bartok

Bartok named after the 20th century Hungarian composer was a cinnamon colored Vizsla.
To hear him bark you wouldn’t think he was very musical. But just as the composer could be dissident as well as the dog making a howl of a racket you couldn’t forget. He would yowl for his two favorite snacks, popcorn and peanut butter. A small container of popcorn was placed above Bartok’s photo. He spent many hours chasing the blue ball in the park and the owner likes to think his DNA is still on it. The beloved mementos placed in the memorial are wonderful memories the owner can cherish with every glance.

The inside as well as the outside is decorated with photos of Bartok and his family. The owner of this memorial said she has “grateful reminiscences every time I hear popcorn being made.” The memorial solved her dilemma of “how can I remember the life of the dog I loved so much?” What about the pet you loved so much? What grateful reminiscences would you include in a memorial?

Art Pet Memorial for a Cat Named Nefertiti

Both the woman Nefertiti and the cat Nefertiti were Queens of their domains, however the cat Nefertiti had the dominion rule of three other cats. Whenever a bug appeared in their paths they would play “Who gets the bug” and Nefertiti won most of the time being the queen. Her owner said “she never exactly did much, napped mostly and preened her gorgeous coat but we sure enjoyed watching her do it.”

Each day she had a first row theatre seat on a kitchen windowsill watching birds flutter around a feeder. Her motionless concentration on birds was absolutely sphinx-like.

Her owners have a passion for Egypt and wanted a memorial befitting their adored Nefertiti. What would you include in a memorial befitting your adored pet?

Art Pet Memorial for a Cat named Kit Kat

Kit Kat could easily been named “Herring” because she never failed to appear at the exact moment a jar of herring was being opened. She snarled “Rrra”, a scornful cat expletive when another cat approached her while eating a morsel of herring. She didn’t care much for Kit Kat chocolate wafers but readily responded to her name.

The red memorial echoes her soaring personality as she would leap from one chair over a sofa like a rocket while meowing loudly.

Kit Kat’s photo is repeated along with Kit Kat candy wrappers creating a wall papered background in the boxes. She was mostly white with a black beret on her head and a black tail which she liked to swish back and forth knocking anything down in its path.

Perhaps you’ve seen your own cat display these behaviors and have been wondering how best to remember him or her. A memorial of your own is a way to have a tangible depiction of the life of your pet.
